Features

Operation Range

This heater is capable of adjusting from 40-degrees to 80-degrees Fahrenheit. There is a small knob for the built-in thermostat on the front near the bottom that is straightforward enough to use. Simply turn the dial and change the temperature accordingly.

Flow-Through Heating Design

The King Electric EKB features a flow-through design. What this entails is that the air is actually pulled from both the back and the sides. This pulled air is then pushed toward and discharged out of the front of the heater.

It is seen as a more efficient method of moving the air to better heat up larger areas. In fact, the King Electric is known to heat a comfortable 500 square feet worth of area that can benefit a shop or average garage space.

Rapid Heat Transfer

To dive inside this heater, it makes use of patented technology from King known as Smart Limit. Combined alongside dual 80-20 NiChrome open-coil elements, this design allows the heater to dissipate heat quickly. It does so in a way that allows it to even reach the more drafty spaces.

Safety Shut-Off Mechanism

On the notion of Smart Limit Protection, this is designed into the EKB heater to keep you and everyone around you safe. In the face of some kind of abnormal event, the Smart Limit will kick in to automatically shut the power off to the heater.

To make it even safer, once it’s shut down, it will not automatically turn back on. Rather, you must manually reset it, ensuring that you make certain the area is safe enough for the heater again. You can do this hard reset by turning the heater off for 15 minutes.

Long-Lasting Construction

This King Electric EKB is built tough. The case is constructed out of 22 gauge steel to help it last season after season. Beyond that, it even boasts a durable powder coated finish. This is an attempt to not only keep it working well, but also looking good and withstanding any environment.

Unit Bearing Motor

Inside this heater is a unit bearing motor that’s constructed from cast aluminum. It’s intended to just as long a life as the exterior of the heater. This is largely helped by the fact that the unit bearing motor is permanently lubricated.

As for how it operates, it uses a 20cc oil supply, and it features a 6-watt output with a four-pole motor.

Mounting Capability

The EKB is capable of being mounted on either a wall or the ceiling. Thankfully, it includes a universal mounting bracket so you don’t have to go out and purchase one separately.

This mounting bracket is designed from 18 gauge steel. With it, you should be able to get multiple different mounting options. No matter where you mount it, it must be, at minimum, 6ft above the floor.

1-Year Warranty

As long as your EKB heater is installed accordingly to the National Electrical Code, you should be eligible for the 1-year warranty that comes with it. The warranty will allow for you to send the heater back for repairs or replacement if it’s either defective or begins malfunctioning.

Pros

  • Though it’s audible, the fan makes minimal noise to reduce the chances of disturbing anyone
  • Features a responsive thermostat that’s simple to use
  • The heater manages to warm up rather quickly and is able to successfully maintain its warmth
  • It’s easy to setup and mount even if you’ve never installed this type of heater before

Cons

  • There is a chance that the heater may quit working intermittently
  • The heater doesn’t have an obvious “off” switch so that you can quickly turn it off

Final Verdict: Is This the Garage Heater for You?

As the King Electric EKB2450TB is capable of handling 500 square feet max, it may be the best garage heater for if you need to heat a small to average-sized garage. It appears to do a rather good job at pushing the air out to better circulate through the room, and it is able to maintain its set temperature well.

This is a highly user-friendly garage heater too. Setting the temperature takes no time or effort with the built-in thermostat. It even has a good range from 40-80-degree Fahrenheit to keep your garage as comfortable as you need it.

If you need something that’s just basic and effective, it may be difficult to find one better than this. It even comes with a durable mounting bracket so you can quickly get it up on your ceiling or wall and get to heating right away.

Lastly, the King Electric EKB also has a much-needed safety mechanism. The Smart Limit is a good way to give you peace of mind by automatically shutting the heater off in the face of any danger. This way, you can rest assured your home or shop will be free from harm when you’re not there.
