Halo Collar GPS Smart Dog Fence Review

Figuring out a good way to keep your dog contained in a specific area is difficult if you don’t have the ability to put up a traditional fence. Whether you’re renting a home or you just have too big a space to fence in, finding the right solution typically takes a fair bit of effort. Fortunately, virtual fences like the one offered by Halo not only help to give you the peace of mind that traditionally comes from being able to fence in your dog but also give you access to some excellent features. This Halo Collar GPS Smart Dog Fence Review will show you exactly how the device can help make dog ownership a little easier.

  • The ability to set up multiple fences makes it very easy to use on the go
  • App offers a lot of control options, all able to be used at a moment’s notice
  • The training program is a really great way to help your dog learn how to get used to a virtual fence
  • Being able to GPS track a dog is a great way to let dog owners feel safer with the virtual fence

Cons

  • Despite the fact that it works well, this is still one of the priciest invisible/virtual fence options on the market

Features of Halo Collar GPS Smart Dog Fence

Virtual Fencing

This device is a virtual fence. Similar to a traditional invisible fence, it uses corrective feedback to keep dogs within a specific zone. Unlike invisible fences, though, it uses GPS instead of wires to create the boundary zones for your pet. This means that you won’t have to dig up your yard and that you can change up your fencing zones without having to make any changes in your landscaping.

No Wi-Fi Needed

One of the unique features of this unit is that all of the fencing data for your dog is stored onboard the collar. That means that even if you don’t have access to Wi-Fi, your dog will still be kept safe within its fencing zones. This makes it not only much easier to trust the collar when your dog is running around alone, but it also makes it a much more attractive device for those who don’t traditionally have great Wi-Fi coverage.

Customizable Feedback

The device has multiple feedback levels that will help you ensure that your dog is kept within his or her boundary zones without causing him or her pain. This makes it a great device not only for those dogs who aren’t deterred by traditional invisible fences but also for those dogs who might get scared by the feedback processes that are used by many other devices.

Multiple Fencing Options

With the ability to set up twenty different virtual fencing zones, this is a great device for those who need to ensure that their dogs have plenty of different safe spaces where they can roam. Whether you have specific no-go areas on your property or you’re setting up fences in multiple locations, this feature can make your life much easier.

Easy to Move

Since there are no wires involved, it’s easy to take this fence on the go. Coupled with the multiple options available for fencing zones, this is a perfect travel accessory. Simply delete an old fence and set up a new one when you arrive at your new destination to ensure that your dog has plenty of safe places in which to play.

Real-Time Tracking

Afraid that your dog might get loose while you aren’t around? This Halo Collar allows you to track where your dog is via GPS. A revolutionary addition to any pet owner’s tool kit, this feature is one of the best ways to ensure that you always know where your dog is even when you can’t keep an eye on him or her.

Activity Updates

This collar doesn’t just keep track of where your dog is – it keeps track of his or her activity. This means that you’ll not only get to see whether your dog is moving, but you can check to make sure that your dog gets an adequate amount of exercise every day.

No Terrain Issues

This collar works on virtually every terrain. Whether you’re dealing with creeks or mountains, you’ll always get the kind of coverage you need to ensure that you can keep your dog safe.

Boundary Training Program

Most virtual fences require more training than you might expect. This fence actually includes an amazing 21-day training program that will help you to ensure that your pup gets used to the fence and that he or she will be able to get the most out of his or her newfound freedoms.

App-Controlled

Everything on this collar is controlled via a great app. Whether you are training your dog or just keeping track of him or her, you’ll be able to access everything you need from your own phone. With multiple subscription tiers, you can also decide exactly what features you want from this collar.

Is This the Virtual Fence for You?

If you’re just looking at the functionality of this fence, it’s really hard to think of the kind of dog owner for whom this might not be a good fit. As far as this Halo Collar GPS Smart Dog Fence Review is concerned, this is a fantastic device that’s going to help change the way that any dog owner keeps his or her dogs safe and it has more than enough features to make it one of the most useful virtual fencing products on the market right now. If you’re simply looking at this as a device, it’s really hard to see how Halo could have made it much better.

Unfortunately, this device may not be a good fit for those who are not able to pay such a steep price for the collar. Not only is this a fairly expensive device to begin with, but getting full functionality out of the collar requires a subscription fee that can definitely end up being pricier than some might like. That said, it does go toe-to-toe with other high-end GPS dog fences – just check out our comparison of the Halo collar and the SpotOn dog fence. If you absolutely need a collar that’s at the top of the line and that will provide you with all the tools necessary to keep your dog safe, this is a worthwhile purchase. If you’re looking for something that stays within a reasonable budget, though, you may end up having to look elsewhere.
