The flexibility offered by owning a futon is a benefit you’re sure to enjoy. You can find them in styles that are suitable for just about any room, so there’s no need to worry about it feeling out of place. You can use futons as a chair in the living room, and on days when you’re beat from a hard days’ work you can lie them out flat and relax. Most futons are relatively lightweight and can be easily moved as needed, which is helpful when you want to switch up the room’s layout. A futon also makes a great chair for kids, and allows for extra sleeping space when they have slumber parties. Don’t forget, a futon can make a great place for you to kick back while you watch the big game!

Gone are the days when futons lacked a sense of style. In fact, these days the designs can be quite impressive. You can find a futon to match almost any home decor. There’s a huge selection of mattresses and covers as well as frame styles and materials – check out our guide to some of today’s best options to help you find the perfect fit for your home. Plus, if you get tired of the design or it starts to fade over the years you can easily change the covers to really make the futon stand out.

When it comes to price, a futon will be far less than what you would expect to pay for a bed. When you consider what you can do with a futon, the pricing is actually quite low. You get a chair that converts to a bed along with the capability to switch covers and mattress when you want to switch the style. When you consider the amount of flexibility this offers you’ll come to realize that futons are priced quite affordably. A futon is almost always going to be cheaper than a bed, and in many situations a futon is cheaper than a sofa or small love seat. If you’re looking for furniture for your first apartment, you know that every dollar you save will be quite helpful.

The futon can certainly serve as a comfortable piece of furniture. Equipped with a comfortable mattress or even a mattress topper, your futon can provide you with a great night of sleep. You can get a mattress that suits your preferred level of firmness, too. While they will likely never fully replace the comfort of a bed due in part to the design, there’s no question that a futon can be more than accommodating for a few nights at a time. That said, there are indeed some futons out there that are suitable for everyday sleeping.

There are many advantages to buying a futon for an apartment. Futons are probably going to be gentle on your budget – especially if you shop around to find a good price. The light frames of a futon are a godsend if you have to head up a flight of stairs when getting the futon in or out of your apartment – odds are you know how much of a pain that can be! Better yet, there are cases when you can able to assemble the futon in your apartment rather than carry it up as one piece – something you probably wouldn’t be able to do with a sofa.

While you may never need the flexibility that futons provide, it’s always great to have options just in case. While it may spend the majority of it’s days functioning as a couch, it’ll be there to put up guests for the evening in short order when you don’t have enough beds. If you’re looking for furniture to outfit your apartment, it’s certainly worth considering a futon.
